SARASOTA, FL (May 10, 2022) – John Cox is a retired deputy of Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office and the Founder of Ruck9, a non-profit organization that raises funds to put disabled animals in wheelchairs. In less than a year, he has helped 64 dogs, 3 cats, and a goat to find the freedom to walk again!
There are two things these animals have in common – one being mobility issues and the other being mobility solutions. With Ruck9’s help, all these animals have been granted Walkin’ Wheels wheelchairs that allow pets to continue to live happy, healthy lifestyles! It doesn’t stop there though… Cox says, “Our mission is to help as many animals as possible, get wheelchairs and help them feel like they are the animal they are supposed to be. All proceeds are just going to be able to put more and more wheelies on our ‘wheelie warriors.’”
Don Jackson, the owner of Mattie Mae (a wheelie warrior veteran), says, “John came down and gave her a Walkin’ Wheels cart. This cart has made this animal a dog, a normal dog. She is just like any other dog. She has no idea what legs are, somebody forgot to tell her she had them.”
Not only will these wheelchairs help with creating a lifestyle more suitable for these pets, like getting exercise, building strength, and gaining independence, but they will help make it a more quality one.
Cox says, “I cannot say enough about Walkin’ Pets. They have been such a good partnership with Ruck9, and I can’t thank them enough.” John hopes to continue to hold events that will raise enough money to help any animal that needs the assistance!
