What Makes the SureFit® Calculator the Best Choice?

SureFit® Guarantee: we guarantee the perfect size, or we’ll pay your return shipping costs if an exchange is needed. That way there’s no doubt your pet will get the perfect fit.

We highly recommend using our SureFit® Calculator as it ensures the perfect custom fit for your pet. It requires a couple measurements, but only so we can provide your pet with the very best experience.

We recognize this takes a few minutes of your time, but those minutes are worth the happiness your pet will experience once they try out their wheelchair for the first time. Our wheelchairs have already helped more than 81,000 other pets. Let’s make that 81,001!

Other companies simply have you select a wheelchair based on weight, but that often results in a poor fit. Why? A 30 lb bulldog has a very different body type from a 30 lb corgi, but those companies will provide both with the same wheelchair.

Can my cat pee and poop in the wheelchair?

Yes! In fact, your cat’s wheelchair is designed so that your cat can go to the bathroom and get the exercise they need. Not only can pets pee and poop while using their cat wheelchair, but their wheelchair also actually encourages them to go. A “down” cat tends to be less active, which can impact the internal functions of their body. Once a cat is in their wheelchair, they are standing upright and moving more which encourages their body to function correctly and allow them to relieve themselves naturally.

How does it work?

Both male and female cats can pee and poop freely while using their wheelchair. The feline’s hind end is fully supported from underneath by their rear leg rings. The leg rings keep your cat in a comfortable and natural standing position. Although your cat will not be able to squat while in their wheelchair, they will relieve themselves while standing.

How do I measure my cat for a wheelchair?

It’s easy to determine the right size Walkin’ Wheels wheelchair for your cat. We only need two simple measurements to choose the right size wheelchair for your pet:

  1. Measure the Rear Leg Height to the toe pad, ideally when your cat is laying down. Do not pull the leg tight; leave some natural bend.
  2. Your cat’s armpit to rump (ATR) measurement. This length measurement is taken from behind the front leg and along your cat’s body all the way to the rump.

Can my cat sit in a wheelchair?

No. Our wheelchair is designed NEVER to collapse on the cat’s leg or spine. We’ve gone to great lengths to be sure of it. The wheelchairs are designed with the help of veterinarians and rehabilitation specialists to hold the cat up, keeping the spine and legs in the optimal position for safety and healing.

What’s more, the purpose of the wheelchair is to give the cat exercise and the freedom to go outside and do his business. When the cat is tired, you should never leave him/her in the chair.

The reviews we have seen of the experimental sit-down spring-loaded style have not been positive. Although we have done a great deal of research, we have not found a safe way for a wheelchair to collapse on a cat.

Can my cat use their Walkin’ Wheels inside the house?

Yes. The Walkin’ Wheels is designed to be used both indoors and outside. If your paralyzed pet needs an indoor mobility solution that can be worn for extended periods of time, we recommend the Walkin’ Scooter.

Can my cat lie down in the wheelchair?

If you have a small cat or kitten with shorter legs, it is OK for them to take a rest up against a pillow or bed. Otherwise, it is not recommended, due to back or disc issues that could worsen by laying down in the wheelchair. A cat wheelchair is designed to help your cat get the exercise they need, your cat should be removed from their wheelchair when they are ready to rest.

Can my cat use their back legs in the wheelchair?

Yes, a cat does not need to be fully paralyzed to benefit from using a feline wheelchair. The wheelchair supports your cat to relieve pressure and reduce the weight placed on their legs making it easier for them to walk. We encourage your cat to use their rear legs as much as possible to maintain muscle mass and to get exercise. If the rear legs are paralyzed, then the stirrups will keep their legs from dragging.

Will this wheelchair rehabilitate my cat?

Every cat and disability are unique, so is their recovery process. We have seen varying degrees of rehabilitation with cats using the wheelchair. Some felines have been able to improve so much that they no longer needed the wheelchair. While your cat is in the wheelchair, they are getting physical therapy improving their physical and mental health.
